They are believed to be written by a Tamil sage called Agathiyar who is said to have had divine revelations. There are different schools of thought as to the author of these leaves. The texts are mainly written in Vatteluttu, which is an ancient Tamil script. It is based on the belief that the past, present and the future lives of all humans were foreseen by Hindu sages in ancient time.
Nadi astrology ('நாடி ஜோதிடம்' in Tamil), ( nāḍi jyotiṣa) is a form of Hindu astrology practiced around the temple. I had a very distant acquaintance who did this and it turned out to be insanely accurate, from his birth to the age he eventually passed away which was also predicted They have all the horoscopes written down on pieces of paper and stored in the temple. I do remember that this temple in India that can tell you your past life with precision and what will happen in this life as well.
